This is the list of dance classes being taught at Pennsic 37.

NOTE! The schedule currently on the Pennsic War website had a LOT of typoes introduced in the latest version, as does the list printed in the Pennsic War book. This is the correct schedule; there will be a ton of corrections published in the newspaper to make that schedule match this one.

10am15th century Italian Balli Arglwydd Dafydd Cyhoeddwr Three recently reconstructed 15th c Italian Balli: Bialte di Chastiglia, Fiore de Virtu, and Fioretto will be taught - come expand your repertoire!
11amLow, slow and flirtatious: Gioliva Lady Judith de Northumbria, Magistra Laurea This is a lovely, yet relatively short dance a duo that offers you a chance to get close to your partner. 15th c. steps, styling and cultural tidbits will be taught/discussed. Some dance experience recommended.

11amFair Flirtation: Legiadra Lady Judith de Northumbria, Magistra Laurea This is an elegant, seductive piece for sets of two couples. For intermediate to experienced dancers.
noonEarly Progressive English Country Dance (2 hours) Lord Henry of Maldon A sample of how progressions were done in English country dancing decades before Hole in the Head. May include Once I Loved a Maiden Fair, Up Tails All, Peppers Black, My Lady Cullen.

7pmBeginning Foundations for Caroso: Steps, Part I Margaret Roe Caroso used 15 "main" steps in his choreographies. By mastering these steps, the dancer can fully perform more than two-thirds of Caroso's choreographies. This class will focus on the eight most frequent steps and some common step combinations.

11amLow, Slow and Flirtatious: Cupido Lady Judith de Northumbria, Magistra Laurea How can one go wrong with a dance entitled `Cupid'? A sweet piece that will afford you plenty of partner contact. All steps will be taught, but dance experience is recommended. Ornamentation and styling briefly discussed.

Folk Dance: Chirintana Lady Judith de Northumbria, Magistra Laurea This class will cover a widely (and enduringly) popular dance that seems itself to exhibit several of the elements of later longways English Country Dances, namely the high-energy hays in such dances as La Trenchmore. 10amProcess to Impress: Basse Dances from Burgundy Lord Galeran Chanterel The elegant processional Basse dances of the 15th century are among the earliest European choreographies. We will explore the extant sources, choreographies and music, and then learn the commonly performed Basse Alenchon, Franchoise Nouvelle, and Dance de Cleves.
11amLow, Slow and Flirtatious: Lauro Lady Judith de Northumbria, Magistra Laurea Come learn this gem of a dance composed by none other than Lorenzo de' Medici, il Magnifico. A perfect way to hone your dancing skills for the Grand Pennsic Ball. For beginners as well as experienced dancers; all steps will be taught, and ornamentation and styling briefly discussed.
noonNaughty Courtly Dances Lord Henry of Maldon Due to the shortage of documentation for period lap dancing technique, this class will focus on huggy and kissy dances.
1pmArena's Bransles and Bassedanse Messer Sion Andreas o Wynedd Know how to bransle? Not like this you don't. Come and see what the other major French dance source had to say about these dances and how that translated to the bassedanse (which apparently we don't dance right either.)

10amCascarda Favorites Mistress Alina of Foxwood Caroso's Cascarde are delightfully fun and lively 16th Century Italian dances. Bella Gioiosa and Gracca Amoroso are among the more popular cascarde, often enticing our local musicians to both play and dance them at once. Familiarity with 16th Century Italian steps and figures is helpful, as there are quite a few of them (but it's worth the learning of them).
11amA Ball from 1503 Lady Judith de Northumbria, Magistra Laurea This will be an experiment with a ball format as chronicled by a servant of the Archduke of Austria in Ulm in 1503. The primary source material will be discussed, and then we'll recreate it.
noonBlasphemies and Misbegotten Imaginings Messer Sion Andreas o Wynedd In this class we'll be playing a tongue-in-cheek game of "What if?" with late period choreographic evolution and dance history. Remember. Nothing is sacred in this class, so bring your sense of humor.
1pmI-talians for the English Lady Jane Milford This class teaches simple Italian Dances in ways that beginners can understand and retain.
2pmAbsolute Beginner    
3pmFocused beginner: 16th c. Italian    
4pmMenages a Deux: La Fia Guilemina Lady Judith de Northumbria, Magistra Laurea This is a beautiful 15th c. piece for two that will allow you and a (hopefully likable) partner to display grace and passion on the floor. All steps will be taught, but this class is aimed at experienced dancers.
5pmA Ball as prescribed by Messer Fabrito Caroso (2 hours) Gregory Blount Put on your finest clothes and come dance at an actual Caroso Ball! Dances will be drawn from all of the 16th century Italian sources. Spectators are welcome.
