Lord Maurin Lessault Bransles for All 16th Century French 14:00 8/4 Bransles are lively and fun dances from 16th Century France. Come and learn all about them. All steps taught, no experience necessary.

Lord Maurin Lessault Basics of English Country Dance English Country Dance 12:00 8/5 The concepts, terminology, and techniques necessary to learn any English Country Dance will be covered. All skill levels welcome, all steps will be taught.
Lady Felice Debbage, O.G.R. "What Do You Mean, It's Not Historical?" Bransles Done Better 16th Century French 13:00 8/5 Did you know that there's no "tossing" in The Official Bransle? Or that the real Maltese Bransle isn't the "Medieval Hokey Pokey"? Come learn the authentic--and considerably more challenging--versions of these dances and a few others.

Come and discover why. Steps will be reviewed, but some dance experience is recommended. ($1 handout)
Lady Judith de Northumbria, Countess of the House of Drachenwald Lombardy Longways: Colonesse 15th Century Italian 12:00 8/6 Yes, the Italian peninsula enjoyed longways set dances in the 15th c., with hays and all of the fun that an English dance has, and more! Lord Henry of Maldon Spagnoletta 16th Century Italian 12:00 8/7 Learn to dance Spagnoletta, a pretty and fairly easy late 16th century Italian dance from Caroso.
Lady Judith de Northumbria, Countess of the House of Drachenwald Advanced 15th c. dance: Legiadra 15th Century Italian 13:00 8/7 This dance, "The fair lady", constitutes a scintillating ballet of passion and grace in which flirtation ensues, but fidelity ultimately triumphs! Aimed at experienced dancers. ($1 handout) (repeats 8/12 1pm)
Lady Judith de Northumbria, Countess of the House of Drachenwald Advanced 15th c. dance: La Fia Guilemina 15th Century Italian 14:00 8/7 This is a beautiful 15th c. piece for two that will allow you and a (hopefully likable) partner to display grace and passion on the floor. Students will practice listening to dance music and learn to call upcoming movements in advance in a consistent manner. This class assumes familiarity with European dance and some teaching experience
Master Philip White How to Teach European Dance Generic 9:00 8/8 CLASS MEETS IN AS9. Looking to become a more effective teacher? Or, always wanted to teach but not sure where to start? This class will focus on ways to improve your abilities to teach. Beginning dance teachers are especially welcome. People who do not feel ready to teach but want to curious are invited too. We will walk though examples of what works and what doesn‟t. Personal experiences are encouraged. If you are teaching a class later during the war, you can ask for help during this class or you can invite me along to observe your class and to give constructive feedback.

Lord Pavel Dudoladov So you think you can Dance Generic 12:00 8/8 We all know that the music tells you what to do; how well are you paying attention? Dance along to the Debatable Consorts musical accompaniment.
THL Gwommy Perfecting Playford: Nonesuch & Newcastle English Country Dance 13:00 8/8 We will be dancing Nonesuch and Newcastle (for lines of 4 couples), dancing it as close to Playford as possible through all the reconstructions that I've seen. I've chosen or reconstructed each part of the dance to best match what I think Playford is trying to say in hopes to better standardize these fun dances that seem to have many regional variations and differences.
Lady Margaret Roe Reconstructing 16th Century Italian Dances: Beyond the Basics 16th Century Italian 13:00 8/8 CLASS MEETS IN AS12. Reconstructing 16th century Italian dances sometimes takes a fine-toothed comb. Come learn the little things that can make this process easier!
Saltatoris Dance Guild Dancing for Beginners Generic 14:00 8/8 Learn dances for Sunday night's Beginner Ball. All the steps will be taught and we may do each dance multiple times for you to learn them. You don't need to bring a partner.

  Beginner's Ball   21:00 8/8 "I am not a dancer." Neither was anyone before they danced for the first time. The Beginners' Ball is your opportunity to explore the myriad joys of dance. Join us on Sunday, August 8, at 9 pm, for a ball that is open to all levels of dancers, but that caters to those with absolutely no dance experience. We will enjoy a lively assortment of dances, and don't worry: you CAN dance at this ball (everything will be taught). Music will be provided by an open band assembled at Pennsic. We welcome musicians to join us in our celebration. In addition, light refreshments will be served.

Katherine Mercer Be a Better Dancer the Period Way 15th Century Italian 11:00 8/9 Come learn how to better express yourself and impress others on the dance floor using selected exercises from Messer Guglielmo Ebreo of20 Pesaro92s dance manual. Note: this is not a choreography class97we will focus on the performance of a single dance to various kinds of music. Some prior knowledge of basic fifteenth century Italian dance steps (singles, doubles, pive, reprise, saltarelli) is assumed.
Mistress Alina of Foxwood Advanced Grand Ball Prep - 16th C. Italian 16th Century Italian 12:00 8/9 This class covers Lo Spagnoletto and Gracca Amorosa, two of the 16th Century Italian dances in the Grand Ball. If you know the basics and want to learn or refresh your memory on a couple of dramatic and fun, but not quite so basic, dances in the Grand Ball, this class is for you.

Master Philip White 15th Century for Five: Vercepe 15th Century Italian 11:00 8/10 Vercepe is a fun and interesting Fifteenth century dance for five people. Couples are not required. Dancers are encouraged to be familiar with Fifteenth century dance steps but it is not necessary if you are a fast study. Class will begin with a review of all steps in the dance and you should end the hour by being able to perform Vercepe if not be able to teach it yourself.

Lady Judith de Northumbria, Countess of the House of Drachenwald 15th Century Folk Dance: Chirintana (A Pennsic Ball Dance) 15th Century Italian 13:00 8/10 This class covers a widely popular dance that itself exhibits similarities with English Country dances, such as the hays in La Trenchmore. Dance suited to all levels of experience, including heavy weapon combattants! ($1 handout)
Lady Judith de Northumbria, Countess of the House of Drachenwald 15th Century Folk Dance: Saltarello and Piva (Pennsic Ball Dances) 15th Century Italian 14:00 8/10 This class covers the practice of two of the more popular improvised dance forms of not only Italy, but of Spain and France. No choreographies to remember, just pure, simple fun. For beginner and experienced dancers. ($1 handout)

  Pennsic Grand Ball   21:00 8/10 (In the Barn) To all who read these words, may it be known that the Grand Ball, held in the barn of the town of Pennsic on August 9th of the 2010th year of the Incarnation, shall be a colour ball in the tradition of the court of lord Phillip, Duke of Burgundy, Count of Charolais, etc., and that the colors shall be black and red to create a resplendent ambiance in the darkness of the evening. Don garments of one or both colors and come and dance away the evening! (the wearing of red and black is not a requirement for participation, merely an attempt to add flair to the proceedings)

This class gives guidelines for applying modern experiences to Renaissance dancing, so that the Renaissance effect is not lost, and comfort & confidence are promoted. Intended for European Dance, but can apply to many circumstances. (repeats 8/13 noon)
Lady Judith de Northumbria, Countess et Magistra Laurea Ménages à trois: Hope Springs Eternal 15th Century Italian 13:00 8/11 This class covers the dance Spero, a lovely 15th c. threesome which proves that men never relinquish hope. Steps shall be reviewed, but class is aimed at intermediate to advanced dancers
Master Lorenzo Petrucci Romance in Italy: Contrapasso in Due & Rostiboli Gioioso Italian 14:00 8/11 Come learn two slow, romantic Italian dances from the 15th and 16th centuries. Knowledge of basic Italian steps is helpful, but not necessary.
Lady Jane Milford Fashion's Effect on English Country Dancing English Country Dance 14:00 8/11 CLASS MEETS IN AS7. Take a second look at English Country Dancing by bringing forward information about the fashion of the Stuart/Commonwealth times (circa 1651). (repeats 8/13 2pm)

  A Ball from 1503   16:00 8/11 Lord Simon de Lalaing, retainer in the retinue of the Archduke of Austria, chronicled a ball held in Ulm in 1503, to celebrate the progress of his Lord. Come and help us recreate this very elegant, yet strangely egalitarian style of festivity, with food and refreshments to tempt your palettes!

  The Feast of San Giovanni   21:00 8/12 Upon the 12th of August, the Feast of San Giovanni, Judith, Countess of the Royal House of Drachenwald, invites all to revel in the style of the courts of Sforza, Burgundy, and Lancaster. Music for dancing shall be provided by the ensemble known as Istanpitta, and the gaming tables shall be open. Allow all of your senses to be satisfied! Festivities shall begin around the ninth hour, with food and beverage for all!
